The creative child

The creative child

A teacher asked a class of 6 year olds to draw horses. One child drew a blue horse. When the teacher saw it, the teacher said “that’s wrong!”.
The teacher didn’t know that the painting ‘The Large Blue Horse’ by Franz Mark was hanging in the little ones home.

We need to accept our little ones creativity, take the time to experience it with them, rather than judging their work in a pass or fail attitude.

I wonder what the affect this comment had upon the child’s ability to express themselves?
